You may already be familiar with the debilitating effects of migraines if you suffer from them regularly. It can be impossible to function properly because of the intense pain, sensitivity to sound and light, and nausea.

They can appear without warning and suddenly in situations when you cannot rest and lie down until they pass. It’s important to have a kit that contains everything you need for a migraine attack.

Water

When you start to feel a migraine coming, the first thing to do is drink water. Dehydration may trigger migraines. Even if this is not the reason for your migraine, dehydration will make it worse.

Always keep a bottle of water with you and take small sips throughout the day. If you get a headache, hydration is the first step to relief.

Medicine

Include in your migraine response kit any medication you use to manage migraines, or relieve them. You can include both prescription and over-the counter medications such as aspirin, acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

Keep a supply of a medication you know is effective for you on hand and replenish it when it runs low. This way, you won’t be caught without it.

Caffeine

A small amount of caffeine can help to relieve migraine pain , especially when your migraine is caused by missing your daily dose.

But excessive caffeine consumption can trigger migraines .

Relaxation Techniques

For some people, music, drawing or doing something with their hands to distract them from the pain can make migraines easier to bear. .

Keep a list of things that you find useful in your daily life so that you can quickly access them when you need to.

You can also use techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness meditation and progressive muscle relaxation to help ease migraines. These don’t need any equipment or supplies.

Notebook

Keep a record of migraine attacks in a journal if you experience them on a semi-regular or regular basis.

Write down any triggers, the time, intensity and date. Also, note what treatments you have used and their effectiveness.

These data can be used to identify patterns, triggers and track the effectiveness of various treatments. This data could be helpful to your doctor when diagnosing and treating your migraines.

Health Information

It’s a good idea, in case of emergency, to have all your health information on hand.

Include your medical history, including allergies and conditions. Also, include the phone number of your doctor, or any other contacts in case of an emergency.

This information can be kept in a notebook or phone. Make sure that it is easily accessible to others if you cannot.

Talk to your doctor if your migraines interfere with your daily life or prevent you from doing the things you enjoy. Your doctor may prescribe medication, or test for the underlying cause.
